EuCIA's work and publications of the 1990's are mainly intended to help composite manufacturers to meet the increasingly severe requirements of the European health, safety and evironment legislation.

The purpose of the UP Resin Handling Guide is to provide processors of unsaturated polyester resins with information about the best available emission control techniques for reducing styrene emissions in the work place in order to reduce worker exposure, and how to fulfil the requirements of "clean air" legislation in order to protect the environment.

The brochure gives information about styrene, explains how to measure and monitor styrene emissions, how to reduce exposure inside the plant, and gives an introduction to filtration of styrene before discharge into the atmosphere.

It has been jointly written in 1993 by EuCIA and the CEFIC Unsaturated Polyester Sector Group and first published in English near the end of 1994 .

During the subsequent years (between 1995 and 1999) this brochure has been translated and published in the following languages.
